The idea of forming a collaborative of like-minded editors in rheumatology, Collaborative of Indian Rheumatology Editors (CIRE), came about to give a formal platform to our efforts to promote and teach the art and the science of scientific writing and channel our energies in this direction systematically.

The results since, as envisaged, have been heartening. The CIRE has been conducting 4–6-day workshops every year on “Scientific Writing and Publishing” and “Research Methodology” and in association with teaching institutes and professional bodies such as the Indian Medical Association, Innovative Physicians Forum, Indian Rheumatology Association and Association of Physicians of India which are very popular.

In addition, we have delivered numerous dedicated sessions in CMEs and stand-alone lectures. We have published several editorials, perspectives and reviews on different aspects of academic writing. CIRE members have also contributed book chapters and published journal supplements. The CIRE hopes to continue educating, enlightening and empowering academicians and other stakeholders and help them write better and get published.
